    Description

    This1966 Pontiac GTO convertible is finished in red over black vinyl upholstery,the car is powered by a 389ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmissionand Safe-T-Track limited-slip differential. Equipment includes Tri-Powerinduction with three Rochester two-barrel carburetors, a power-operated whitesoft top, an aftermarket AM/FM radio with an auxiliary input, and RallyII-style wheels with redline tires. Recent maintenance has reportedly includedreplacement of the fuel pump, battery, starter, and spark plugs. This GTO isbeing offered with documentation from Pontiac Historic Services and a clean Texastitle in the seller’s name.
    Finishedfrom the factory in Montero Red (R), the car is believed to have been repaintedin the 1990s. Exterior features include a chrome driver’s side-view mirror,dual exhausts, a hood with a functional scoop, and a power-operated white softtop. The seller states that the windshield washer pump has been replaced, and anew soft top motor, switch, and pistons were installed in 2016. Paint bubblingis noted on the driver’s door.
    RallyII-style wheels with PMC-branded center caps and chrome trim rings are mountedwith Firestone redline tires. A full-size spare is housed in the trunk. Brakingis handled by four-wheel drums. The seller notes that the steering box,springs, and shocks have been replaced some time ago.
    Thecabin houses seating surfaces trimmed from the factory in black vinyl (223),along with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. The car is equippedwith lap belts for all occupants as well as an aftermarket Pontiac-brandedAM/FM radio with an auxiliary input. The horn and relay have reportedly beenreplaced.
    Atwo-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a faux-woodgrain instrument panelhousing a 120-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. Atrio of Auto Gage displays are mounted under the dash. The five-digit odometershows 49k miles, around 3k of which have been added during current ownership.Total mileage is unknown.
    The389ci V8 features three Rochester two-barrel carburetors and an MSDdistributor, and was factory rated at 360 horsepower. The exhaust and radiatorwere replaced in 2015, and work the following year included replacing the fanclutch and exhaust mounts. The spark plugs, battery, fuel pump, and starterwere replaced in preparation of the sale per the seller. The removeddistributor and coil will accompany the vehicle.
    Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manualtransmission and a Safe-T-Track differential with 3.55:1 gearing. The clutchand fork are said to have been replaced in 2016.
