    The topsail schooner represents the
    cutter 'MASSACHUSETTS',
    our first cutter in 1790, of a predecessor
    organization,
    the
    Revenue Cutter Service.
    The RCS merged with the US Life Saving Service in 1914,
    to form the modern US Coast Guard.
    This, and similar patches, were made up to celebrate the
    Coast Guard's Bicentennial in 1990.
