This one-ounce pure silver colorized gem commemorates Marilyn with a celluloid backdrop (depicting stars from Tuvalu’s flag) that made her one of America’s darlings fifty years after her untimely death in 1962.

orn Norma Jeane Mortenson, baptized Norma Jeane Baker, to most of the world she was simply Marilyn.  She was an American actress and model who graced the screen with her luminous beauty and is the epitome of the ‘blond bombshell’.
Marilyn began her career as a model, which led to a film contract in 1946 offering her a number of minor appearances.
Her career took off after her cover appearance on the first Playboy magazine in 1953 and by 1959, she had attained several leading roles and was being hailed by critics.  In her relatively short career, she won both a BAFTA award (1957) and a Golden Globe award (1959).
One of her most memorable performances was her sultry serenade of “Happy Birthday” to JFK in Madison Square Garden.
Jackie (also in this Top 100 Women list) spent the day with their children at the Loudon Hunt Horse Show.
This coin was struck at the Perth (P) Mint in Australia.
