This is a scarce set of three U.S. Coast Guard Base entertainment programs and informational booklet that date from the 1940's and were issued at the United States Coast Guard Base in Puerto Rico. These were inexpensive paper copies distributed to those attending the programs and soldiers and officers based in Puerto Rico. They are original. and have been saved and stored for over 60 years. One entertainment program for a "musical comedy in two acts" was titled "SAY SI" and is dated 1944. Comedy show was an original musical comedy and was presented by Special Service Branch ,HC., Antilles Dept. Program lists cast, specialties, chorus, program, and production staff. Second program is dated April 24th for a variety musical show but I can't make out the year. Definitely a 1940 year but can't make out the last numeral. Show was held in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This lists the program of events for the evening and has the lyrics for two songs including "Semper Paratus." Third item is a booklet called "introducing....... Puerto Rico;" issued by Headquarters, Puerto Rican Department for newly arrived soldiers and officers to the San Juan base. 8 page booklet has general information about the Puerto Rican culture, geography, history, education, and business and politics.Three
copies were printed on regular, inexpensive paper and are in decent condition for their age; slightly darkened/yellowed due to age, some creases and wrinkles, a crease and tear on spine of Puerto Rico booklet, and a creased corner on a program. General vintage wear commensurate with age but art work, graphics, and printing is legible (except for that one numeral!) Can't be many of these around. A wonderful collector's item. Thanks for looking.
