This is a pair of used Lionel 027 gauge #205 Missouri Pacific A-A units, 1 powered A unit and 1 dummy A unit. Originally built in 1957, these have been rebuilt using all original Lionel parts, some may have slight rust or scuffs, which should be expected for over 60 year old components. The shells are in fair condition, with quite a bit of scratching and some minor repairs to the noses on both units, which required touch up spraying. I tried to minimize over spraying onto adjacent surfaces but some overspray couldn't be helped. I didn't want to rub excessively so as to leave the original numbers intact. I wanted to make the units as presentable as possible. The paint color is as close as I could get, the only difference is due to ageing of the original paint. My thought being that the running gear is actually all the correct parts, including the 3 position e unit, 2 axle magnetraction, the original style of collector on the powered unit and excellent metal frames on both units. I have 2 identical pairs of these available, this sale is for one pair.
A complete restoration could be completed with a detailing of the components and refinishing the shells including reproduction graphics, or replacing the shells.
As they are shown, both units are in very good running condition and are quite correct.
