This is a used Lionel 027 gauge Rock Island Line train set # 6-1661. It is a complete train set and is in excellent condition, the set box itself has been resurrected to serve as a great box for storing, handling and transporting the set. The 6-1661 was built in 1976 and 1977, and everything in the set is in excellent operating condition.
Included in this sale are the following:
1 - Lionel #8601 0-4-0 steam locomotive, with an AC pullmor motor, that has had a headlight and a 2 position e unit added. The e unit allows it to run in forward and reverse directions controlled from the transformer.
1 - Lionel Rock Island 8 wheel slope back tender.
1 - Lionel #9033 Penn Central 8 wheel gondola, with a lemon/ lime (1 yellow and 1 green) pair of canisters for a load.
1 - Lionel #9020 Union Pacific 8 wheel flatcar with a lemon/ lime (1 yellow and 1 green) pair of removable panel vans for a load.
1 - Lionel #9078 Rock Island 4 wheel bobber caboose
1 - Lionel # 4060 50 watt transformer with a speed control, a Lionel CTC track power connector, 110 volt power cord and a 2 conductor track power cable.
8 -  Lionel 027 curved track sections.
4 - Lionel 027 straight track sections.
1 - Lionel #6-1661 Rock Island Line set box that has been rebuilt with a new top cover and interior liners to fit with the original set box bottom.

I completely assembled the set and tested everything. All parts of the train  are in excellent condition and operate perfectly, it's hard to believe that this set is almost 50 years old. It looks as though there is very little running time on the train, however, there is some minor playwear, and the track does have some very light tarnish.
I lightly cleaned them,
made sure each track has 3 pins and the train runs nicely on these tracks. Overall, this is an excellent train set and is ready to set up and play with. The set box cover was in very poor condition, and I used it as a pattern to make a new box top of foam filled poster board, then I copied the graphics from the old cover and pasted the copies onto the new top. The graphics are missing some sections, but they look very presentable and the repaired box is considerably stronger than the old one, and is a great box for storing, handling and transporting the set.
