This set is from the Warhorse Series.
In this series, all components
are weathered by Lionel to show the effects
of aged equipment.
Painted (weathered) by hand....
each piece one of a kind, a special touch
in this age of mass-produced identical clones.
Lionel production facts:  This Warhorse set was announced late
in 1997.
This Santa Fe Warhorse set was produced
in very low quantities.  It never appeared in a regular catalog,
was in a limited separate brochure (Last picture, actual brochure
not included), and many collectors were unaware of it's existence.
One of the many Locomotive's features is a wireless tether
infrared communications system that eliminates
the plugs and wires between the engine and tender.
Another feature of this iconic engine is Lionel TrainMaster
Command Control which enables the operation of multiple
trains on the same track along with remote control operation.
Each 9464 boxcar is authentically decorated with one of the
classic
Santa Fe
slogans introduced in 1940,
and features a metal brake wheel and die-cast sprung trucks.
The 7606 caboose is decorated as a steel sided AT&SF caboose,
with die-cast trucks, interior illumination and metal brake wheels.
