MLB Authenticated - Eloy Jimenez vs Jason Vargas (making his Phillies debut) Game-Used Baseball. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. On August 2, 2019, the Chicago White Sox visited the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. Jason Vargas, making his Phillies debut, started for the Phillies, while Ivan Nova went for the White Sox. The game lasted 15 innings and had 17 pitchers, including Roman Quinn!! Vince Velasquez even played LF and had an outfield assist when he threw out Jose Abreu at home plate in the 14th inning!! In the top of the third, Nova led off by striking out. Leury Garcia grounded out to Scott Kingery, who threw over to Rhys Hoskins. Tim Anderson then doubled. Jose Abreu smashed a home run off Vargas, putting the White Sox up 2-0. Eloy Jimenez then walked to the plate. Jimenez worked the count to 2-2 when he fouled off the fourth pitch. For the fifth pitch, VARGAS HELD THIS BALL IN HIS HAND!! He threw a 77.3 mph changeup for a ball. (Yes, that means JT Realmuto also touched this ball!!) This ball was then retired. Jimenez grounded out on the next pitch. Quinn, Bryce Harper, and Jean Segura each drove in a run over the next few innings to put the Phillies up 3-2. But Matt Skole tied the game in the top of the ninth when he drove in Jimenez. The game remained tied at 3-3 until the 15th inning when Abreu hit an RBI single off Quinn. (Velasquez almost threw out Garcia at home!!). The White Sox won 4-3. This ball is MLB Authenticated for the pitch that Vargas threw to Jimenez. There are scuffs in the ball, which may indicate that the ball hit the dirt. Please note that this ball does not come with a case. Thank you for purchasing!!
