MLB Authenticated - J.D. Davis DOUBLE to Bryan Reynolds off Trevor Williams. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. On July 27, 2019, the Pittsburgh Pirates visited the New York Mets at Citi Field. Trevor Williams started for the Pirates, while Steven Matz — who pitched a complete game shutout—would go for the Mets. Heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Mets were hitless. Wilson Ramos extended that streak by grounding out to Jung Ho Kang. Todd Frazier lined out to Starling Marte. J.D. Davis then walked to the plate. With the count 1-1, WILLIAMS HELD THIS BALL IN HIS HAND!! He threw a 90.2 mph four-seamer that Davis swung at and missed. (Yes, that means Jacob Stallings also touched this ball!!) Williams came back with two more fastballs, both for balls. On the fourth pitch with this ball, with the count full, Williams threw a 91.5 mph four-seam fastball, and DAVIS SCORCHED THIS BALL 376 FEET IN THE GAP, WHERE IT BOUNCED OFF THE WARNING TRACK FOR THE METS’ FIRST HIT OF THE GAME!! BRYAN REYNOLDS GRABBED THE BALL, BUT DAVIS HAD HIS 12th DOUBLE OF THE SEASON BEFORE REYNOLDS COULD GET THIS BALL BACK TO KANG. This ball was then retired. Williams intentionally walked Ahmed Rosario. Matz struck out to end the inning. The Mets went on to win 3-0, getting hits only from Davis and Michael Conforto. (Jeff McNeil, Pete Alonso, and Robinson Cano also started for the Mets but went hitless.) This ball is MLB Authenticated for all four pitches from Williams to Davis, including Davis’s double. Please note that this ball does not come with a case. Thank you for purchasing!!
