    Description

MLB Authenticated - Pine Tar on the Baseball?? Miguel Rojas vs Jake Arrieta. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. On April 27, 2019, the Miami Marlins visited the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. Jake Arrieta started for the Phillies, while Trevor Richards went for the Marlins. Curtis Granderson led off by singling to Nick Williams. Miguel Rojas came to bat. With the count 1-2, ARRIETA HELD THIS BALL IN HIS HAND!! (According to Baseball Reference, Arrieta threw this ball to first, which means Rhys Hoskins may have also touched this ball. But to be clear, this ball is not MLB Authenticated for a pickoff attempt.) Arrieta threw a 93.7 mph sinker, and ROJAS FOULED OFF THIS BALL. This ball was then retired. (There appears to be pine tar on the ball. I have not found a video of the AB, so I don’t know whether the pine tar transferred from Rojas’s bat or it was on the ball during the pitch. I’m guessing the former because I have no reason to accuse Arrieta of using a foreign substance.) Rojas eventually struck out looking. Brian Anderson struck out. Starlin Castro walked. But Jorge Alfaro struck out to end the half inning. The Phillies went on to win 12-9. The teams combined for 31 hits with Granderson, Rojas, Anderson, Castro, Alfaro, Isaac Galloway, Jon Berti, Rosell Herrera, Neil Walker, Andrew McCutchen, Sean Rodriguez, Bryce Harper, Hoskins, JT Realmuto, Williams, Phil Gosselin, Cesar Hernandez, and Maikel Franco all getting hits. This ball is MLB Authenticated for Rojas’s foul off Arrieta. Please note that this ball does not come with a case. Thank you for purchasing!!
