Here at Robbie's Hobbies, we have just purchased a large estate (over 1000 pieces) of brand new, never used Lionel, MTH, Williams, and other O-Gauge model trains. Almost all of it is brand new in the box and has never been run or used. We will be listing some of the coolest items over the course of the next few weeks and months, so make sure to check back often. There's lots of buildings and operating accessories that Lionel only produced once and have not re-issued, which makes this a nice opportunity to snag one new in the box.
R-17 4-Car Subway Set with Proto-Sound 2.0 - MTA (Red) Car #'s 6511, 6707, 6740 & 6889
The New York City R-17 subway cars debuted on the IRT (Interborough Rapid Transit) Division in 1955. New York MTA's 400 cars, which were built by the St. Louis Car Co., proved to be reliable workhorses that were kept in service until February 1988. M.T.H. models this subway set in the popular "Red Bird" scheme and the classic MTA silver and blue markings with graffiti. The Proto-Sound 2.0 equipped R-17 sets feature M.T.H.'s newest advances in transit stop technology. Designed specifically for our municipal transit cars, the system allows you to program the train to stop automatically at pre-set stops you designate, even in Conventional Mode. When you set the train to run on automatic, it stops itself at locations you define and calls out station names that you select in advance. You can let the subway run itself. And when you program it for an out-and-back route, it even reverses itself and heads back downtown when it reaches the end of the line. Along the way, in addition to the station stop sounds, there are door opening and closing sounds and platform sounds. There is no more realistically operating subway set available short of 12":1' scale. Did You Know? The IRT Division of the New York subway was the first built, and its narrower tunnels require smaller cars than the BMT and IND Divisions.

We firmly believe all the items from this estate are "brand new" and have never been run or used. Some of the boxes show some light shelf wear from long term storage and a few have some fading on one side from long term exposure to florescent lights.
