This is the World’s 1
st
Titanium
Legal Tender Coin, and it was quite a feat when issued because titanium is not an easy metal to work with, numismatically. More than a few other nations have now minted titanium coins but this was the first one, a millennium issue from Gibraltar dated 1999. It has a lovely silvery-white color and weighs only 10 grams, incredibly light and strong.
Only 25 thousand of these beauties were made
. Just gorgeous! Titanium is incredibly strong but also a very lightweight metal.
Gibraltar made three identical versions of this coin in silver, titanium, and virenium (an alloy containing metals like nickel, copper, and zinc). It can be difficult to tell them apart unless you weigh them. The titanium version is the lightest of the three at 10 grams.
This special and unique coin has both intrinsic value and collectible value.
Proof or uncirculated? The COA that came with the encased coin from the mint states that all 25,000 of these titanium coins were struck with "proof quality." However, the Standard Catalog of World Coins (2006, Krause) says that only the silver version was struck in proof. I tend to think that the mint that made the coin is correct but I will let the buyer decide if this coin is uncirculated or proof.
This proof or brilliant uncirculated coin comes protected behind clear acrylic in a 1st Day Cover with photocopy of COA (Certificate of Authenticity) and photocopy of detailed information about the 1st Day Cover and the coin's design elements.

My Seller FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):
Allergy Note: All lots come from a smoke free and cat free home but pre-owned items may have originated in different conditions.
About Discounted Shipping: USA shipping only. I am happy to discount shipping within 72 hours of the first purchase if you request a discounted invoice after your last auction concludes but before payment is sent. Large fragile items are not usually subject to this option because they often have to ship in separate boxes.
Shipping and Return Policy: I can only ship to your official USA eBay address and I do not ship during dangerous weather conditions. If you pay for an item any time from Thursday to Sunday, it will ship on Monday. If you pay for an item anytime between Monday and Wednesday, it will ship on Friday. Please bear this in mind, as well as the post office transit time estimates, when looking at arrival dates.
Shipping includes a tracking number.
In 20 years, my return policy has not changed. All sales are final - no returns or refunds unless there is a question of authenticity or a gross error in the description. If any thing you buy from me is not as described and photographed, you are entitled to a full refund of your purchase price after the item is returned. I do not typically offer partial refunds.
Payment Reminder: If you are new around here, you need to know that eBay automatically opens a case when payment fails to arrive within the required period. After a case is opened, buyers have several more days to send payment before the buyer account receives a “strike.” I have received angry emails from slow paying buyers who have no idea the process is automatic, hence, this reminder.
ABOUT FEEDBACK: My top priorities are answering email, writing accurate descriptions and fast shipping. Feedback is important but not my priority. I leave feedback only once or twice a month in large groups to save time.
