Die-Cast Lesney Matchbox No. 66 Harley Davidson Motorcycle w/Sidecar and Wire Wheels
Matchbox/Lesney Products & Co. Ltd.. Made in England. Introduced in 1962. Die-cast metal. Approx. 2-5/8” long. Approx. 1:64 scale (Matchbox 1-75 cars are usually 1:64 scale but other vehicle scales).
This metallic bronze finish Harley with side-car is complete and appears to have never been played with. There are no cracks, chips or missing parts and the paint finish is clean. I always hesitate to call any die-cast vehicle “Near Mint” as one collector’s criteria and tastes can differ from another. The harsh glare of the flash and magnification have revealed at least 2 small flaws. First are 2 spots at the center of the handle bars that appear to be flecks. Secondly is a small spot on the top of the sidecar fender that is not overly visible and may well be a production flaw but is noted. As most collectors know, factory paint finishes can vary in quality. This is not a perfect piece but, as there is no box, this piece has survived the last 60 years quite well. Let’s call it Very Good++ Look at photos closely and feel free to ask any questions before you bid.
Base is marked “No. 66 HARLEY DAVIDSON, MADE IN ENGLAND, BY LESNEY”.
