Description
Up for auction is a game-used baseball that was pitched by Cincinnati Reds pitcher, Wade Miley during the May 7th, 2021 game against the Cleveland Indians where Miley became the 17th pitcher in Reds franchise history (152 seasons) to pitch a NO-HITTER !! This baseball was used for three pitches in the bottom of the 8th inning to Indians' batter, Amed Rosario. The results were one ball and two strikes with this baseball. To top it off, Miley also autographed this baseball and inscribed "5-7-21 No Hitter" to the ball. Major League Baseball authenticated the ball for its game use and the autograph as detailed below. Please note there does appear to be a very slight smudge of the ink in the "No Hitter" part of the inscription on the baseball.
This is an incredible artifact in MLB history and Cincinnati Reds franchise history.
This baseball was then taken out of play after the third pitch that resulted in a foul ball in the 8th inning and authenticated by Major League Baseball under its authentication program designed to preserve memorable artifacts from the game. An authenticator placed a numbered, tamper-proof Major League Baseball authentication hologram on the baseball. The details of the baseball and its game use are logged on the MLB authentication website. The later autograph signing conducted by the Reds was also authenticated by MLB with the same hologram as you will see in the database. For security purposes, the hologram has been blurred in the auction photo but please see the screen capture from the MLB authentication program website also attached to view the details.
This is a wonderful piece of memorabilia that will only appreciate in value with time. There are very few opportunities to add a baseball pitched during a NO-HITTER to your collection so don't miss out!!
